Hello, my name is Megan T. Carlson and I am a strengths-based therapist who loves working with children and families. I specialize in working with infants/young children (12 years old and younger) and their primary caregivers. Parent-Child attachment and ADD/ADHD is my passion; I have been working with children and parents for the past 7 years, 6 of which have been focusing on school/home based treatment as an elementary school counselor. My theoretical orientation is strongly rooted in Experiential Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. By using a child directed approach with parents, children are able to form close and secure relationships with others, understand and manage their feelings, and feel safe to learn and explore.
Are you a new parent and do not feel that you understand your baby, or you're suffering from postpartum depression? Maybe you have a toddler or child that doesn't listen to you and you are frustrated beyond belief! Perhaps your child has been angry, crying excessively, demonstrating other worrisome behaviors or has been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Maybe your child has even gotten thrown out of a preschool or daycare.
That's okay...parenting is the hardest job in the world...and there is help! Together we can identify your strengths as a parent (everyone has a strength!) and tailor strategies to meet the needs of your child and your family.
Today you are one step closer to a healthy and rewarding relationship with your child and I am honored to be on this journey with you. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve the challenges in your child's life that you may be facing right now. Please call or email me today for a free consultation.
